It started life as Invest 98L, but now Hurricane Marco is tracking north into the Gulf of Mexico. It is forecast to make landfall somewhere between Mississippi and Texas with Hurricane Laura not far behind.
2020 has had an extremely active hurricane season, and currently, both Marco and Laura are being observed closely. Marco is presently southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and causing showers and thunderstorms. There is a high probability of strengthening within the next few days. As of now, it appears like it tracks north of the Leeward Islands, into the north of the Caribbean and potentially toward Mississippi.
How strong this storm is and where exactly it is headed is hard to say at this point. As it has not fully formed and things may change, so it’s important to keep watching how it develops. It may track into the Gulf of Mexico or East of Florida. If it hits the Hispaniola mountains, there are chances that it may weaken.
Gulf Coast residents should track announcements and news about Hurricane Marco. Homes can get damaged due to wind, floods, or falling trees during a tropical storm or hurricane.
