What Is The Mold Stachybotrys?

What is black mold?

Stachybotrys is also known as “Toxic Black Mold”. It has the ability to produce mycotoxins which may cause a burning sensation in the mouth, throat, and nasal passages. Other symptoms Stachybotrys may cause also include diarrhea, memory loss, and headaches. Stachybotrys form on wet building materials and water loss is always the first cause of the eventual mold growth that usually starts to grow within 24-28 hours according to experts.

You need to hire a Mold Assessor to determine the mold type and damage to your home. They will swab the mold and complete air cell tests and send them off to a lab to get the results. This will allow them to write a Water IICRC/Mold Protocol because they will also check the water damage and moisture levels during their inspection. Upon completion of the mitigation and mold remediation, they will come back to your home and complete what is called a Post Remediation Verification Clearance to advise you that the home has been properly remediated for mold.

When you sell your home you will be asked if you have had any insurance claims or water damage to your home. Having a PRV clearance to present to the buyer will in most cases satisfy any concerns they have about you having an insurance claim.
